Need Support Groups in Tampa Bay Area

I am one month post op. Surgery was done by Dr. Dicicco of the Wish Center. Having no problems at all. The Wish Center is closing and I am in need of support groups in the Tampa Bay area. Any help greatly appreciated

Hello Stu- Sorry to hear about the Wish Center closing. Dr Murr at Tampa General offers 2 support groups each month, you would be welcome at either. There is a Pre-op support group meeting the 2nd Thursday of each month. A group of post-op's goes around the room and speaks to the pre-ops and tells "our story". Then the 3rd Tuesday of each month there is a Post Op support group meeting. Both meetings are held in the 2nd Floor rehab dining room at Tampa General. They are from 7pm -9 pm. Hi Stu! I was scheduled with Dr. DiCiccio for Friday but it got cancelled due to TWC closing. Dr. Fernandez at the same hospital took me on for the same date, so I attended a support group meeting he had last night. Everyone there was nice and shared a lot. I liked it, and think it's convenient because it is in the same room that the Wish Center had their seminar. Dr. Fernandez took on a lot of the Wish's patients, so you might wanna have a looksee. It is called "New Beginnings" and I believe it is the second Tuesday of every month, and one for post ops is Thursday. To find out for sure, just give Town N Country Hospital a call and they should be able to tell you. Congrats on your problem-free surgery! -Phoenix

Stu, There is a monthy support group at Suncoast Hospital. Dr. Jesse preformed my RYN surgery Oct of 2003. The group os open to all. Please join us....it is FREE!! I am looking forward to meeting you. The next meeting is Thursday March 3 at 6:30pm. Melinda
