How much can you lose?
Reading some of the topics and some of the weight loss is so much. 100 or more lbs in 4 months seems like a whole lot. Does it depend on your starting weight? What is the average that can be expected after WLS in the 1st 4 months? At what point do you stop losing? I have so many questions.
Thanks Yall,
Kat

Kat,
Follow this link to the weight loss planner. Put in your height and starting weight and 75%. This will give you an idea of an average loss.

I wasn't working when I had lap rny 12/15/03. My weight loss became my full-time job so I lost rather quickly. I lost 96 pounds which was my goal when I was 7 months out. I have continued to lose even after adding fruits and veggies to my diet. I now weigh 118 for a total weight loss of 106 pounds. I'm trying not to lose any more. I'm 5'5" & wear a 0.

It all depends on you and your body. My doctor said he would guarantee 90 lbs. So far at 10 months out I have lost 120. If you exercise a lot, your muscles weigh more than fat.I also think it depends on how much you weigh when you start.
At 6 months I was past my doctors goal. My doctor also told me to loose it while you can. Things have slowed down but I am still loosing. Once you stop loosing, I have been told that you will gain some back as you level out. Presently I am at the top end of my normal weight category for my heigth. I would be happy at my present weight. I am so much healthier and happy.
Hi Kat,
I'm 4 1/2 months post-op and have lost 107 pounds. My pre-op weight was 399. I walk about 2 miles everyday but I just started that about 1 month ago. My husband Omar is 22 months post-op and has lost 328 pounds. His pre-op weight was 525. He still is losing about 5 to 7 pounds a month. He does very physical work in the receiving/shipping dept.at Sears. My opinion is that the higher your pre-op weight the more weight you loss quickly in the first few months. That is not medical fact just something I have seen thru personal experiences. It is amazing what this surgery can help people accomplish.
Sincerely,
Dawn
