Saw neurologist today.
About 3 weeks ago I had a cat scan and a tiny Lacunar Infarct was found in my right Basal Ganglia...i.e. there was evidence that I had had a mini stroke. Today I saw a neurologist and he said not to be concerned. Had I been 50 I wouldn't even be seeing him. This is only abnormal because of my age. He said the numbness I had in November and in January does not resemble the symptoms of a stroke.
So then what caused the infarct? Of course he can't say for sure, but said it could have happened during my WLS, since I was under anestesia for a long period of time and my blood pressure might have been dropped really low.
But that might not be it...who knows???
He is going to do some vascular studies of my neck and head to make sure the blood is flowing normally.
In our discussion about my history of high blood pressure, he asked if it was normal now...I said well yes, but who knows if they ever get an accurate reading...as I jiggled the huge flap of skin on my arm. He agreed that they probably do not get an accurate reading. I said sometimes they take it on my forearm, and he said that isn't as accurate. I told him that I know, and that I hope that will help me convince the insurance to pay for plastic surgery. He just grinned.

WOW! My goodness, you have been thru so much in your young life, I can't even imagine hearing that news about a stroke (mini or not). Please keep us posted on how those tests go.
I also love the fact that you have such a great spirit thruout all your medical issues, you are a great inspiration to me with your perserverance and great attitude. Keep it up
!
