Yesterday I was scheduled to have surgery with Dr Deitrick. I drive 3 hours to Tampa, pick up my mother from the airport. I completed my bowel prep and antibiotics. On tuesday I go to the hospital get my Iv and ekg done and I wait to 2 hours and15 min until I go into the or. And here comes Dr. Deitrick, and he says. " I have some interesting news" So of course I thought oh my god, whats wrong? He said the wish center was closing. And like Phenonix said he and I dont feel that I should not have the surgery if Dr. Deitrck could not follow up. So now Im against the clock. I have an appointment with Dr.Fernandez today. Its unbelieveable that this can be such a battle. I wish everyone who was scheduled with Wish Center all the best.

and i thought i was Allllllll byyyyy myyyseeelllffff! LOL I am so sorry to hear your situation!! I am still confused on mine. I have called the wish center nonstop and they won't give me any answers. They keep telling me to wait for my surgeon to call me back. I did some research on my own for a "plan B" just incase this falls through completely, and I have found only one surgeon so far that will take me. I can get in to see Dr. Estegarribia in Bradenton, but surgery will be postponed until March. Other surgeons are telling me they don't except cash pay in my area. Did the Wish Center refer you to Dr. Fernandez? I am sorry you had to go through all that prepping and stuff...what a close call!!! I wish you and all of us TWC patients luck as well!!!!! -Phoenix

Jo, I am so sorry you had come so close to surgery to get the news that the center would be closing. I agree everything happens for a reason and not going thru with surgery was the right decision made. Keep the faith and let us know how your appointment went with the new surgeon. Good luck!

I wanted everyone to know that I did have my gastric bypass with Dr. Fernandez. I do beleive it was what God had intended for me to do. I had the surgery on Friday and left the hospital about 10 on Sunday. I had only 2 doses of pain meds. I would recommend Dr. Fernandez to anybody. Town and County hospital bent over backwards to help me in this situation. I can only give them excellant marks and recommendations. It was weird to hear that everyone in the hospital knew about what had occured earlier in the week. I was talk of the town. I also learned first hand that when you listen to one physicans practices you also need to research other physicans as well. (I thought I had researched but I found out their are many diffrences in practice) I had been treated ok by the wish center until the day of surgery, but after I learned about the closing. They did not provide the customer service that I would have expected. However, Dr. Fernandez and Becky were so professional. They did everthing I could ever ask for them to do. If anyone want additional information I would be happy to help you. Dr. Deitrick did recommend Dr. Fernandez and the offices are cooperating with each other on cases.
