Well - today I am 1 week post-op! I spent 3 nights in the hospital & have been sleeping in my own bed for the past 4 nights. I can't believe how well I've done! I have 7 small incissions (2 on right side from gall bladder removal) that are covered with steri-strips. Other than a huge bruise on my right side that stretches from mid abdomen in the front around almost to my spine in the back I don't look like I've had major surgery. I'm moving around the house and going to the potty with no help and no problems. I'm getting up around 7:00 am and staying up & awake until about 11:30 pm. I'm drinking 48-55 oz. of liquids a day. I'm mostly having Crystal Light but I'm also enjoying SF jello, SF popcycles and "broth". I've tried low fat Chicken broth (very bland), broth from regular Chicken Noodle Soup (tasted too oily), broth from Won Ton soup (ok but a little bland), broth from French Onion Soup (YUMMY), 2% milk (too heavy - tasted like "whole milk"). I've tolerated everything I've "eaten" with no problem! I haven't been physically hungry, but I have been feeling some "head" hunger My parents came down to be here for my surgery and to help out when I came home. Mom has been cooking every night since I left the hospital. The first couple of days I really didn't want what they were eating but last night was different. I wanted a bite, just one bite, so badly!!! I still don't feel hungry, but it just looked and SMELLED soooo good that I wanted a little. But I didn't! My hubby had picked up some French Onion soup from a local restaurant so I had 2 oz. of that and it tasted great! I decided that once I'm back on regular foods, I'll fix the same meal for us and I'll be able to have a little of everything without feeling guilty. I'm proud of myself for resisting temptation. I'm sure it is only the first of many to come but I hope to successfully resist those, too! So at the end of Week 1 I'd give myself an A+.

Vickie, Kudos on your first week. You DO deserve an A+! Keep up the great work and let us know how you are feeling. I had egg drop soup at your phase and strained most of the egg out, that might be something to try if you like that. I also had strained hot and sour soup too. I think I was craving Chinese those couple weeks. Good Luck Amy -144lb.

Vickie Congratulations on your recovery - my initial recovery was rather "uneventful" as well. Since you're in your liquid stage might I suggest Lipton's Cup-a-soups. The Spring Vegetable(doesn't really have any huge chunks, just tiny, tiny pieces) and Cream of Chicken are delectable and very light. I wish I had known about them during my liquid phase. Keep up the good work..you're going in the right direction. I also give ya an A+!!!
