I'm BAAACCCKKK!
Hello everyone!
I'm home from the hospital and feeling pretty good. I had no major complications but did run into a couple of small problems - adhesions from previous surgeries but my surgeron said they didn't interfere with the RNY, and some blood oozing from the incision on my right side where they removed my gall bladder. The surgeon wasn't worried about it and the nurses said it was probably a result of several things - Heprin injections near that incision & sleeping on my right side. They changed the dressing on that incision a couple of times and I haven't had any problems since. But boy do I have a HUGE bruise all around that incision - I'm talking about a bruise the size of a paper plate!! I slept in my own bed last night (wonderful!), and slept on my right side as ususal with no problem.
I haven't had a great deal of pain. The night of the surgery I had gas pain in my chest and shoulder but by the next morning that was pretty much gone. I didn't use the pain pump much after the first day. I wasn't allowed to get up and wal****il after my leak test the day after surgery. I'm not sure why, but my surgeon left orders that he wanted me to rest the first 24 hours, then I was able to get up and walk as much as I wanted.
All in all, I'd say things have gone very well. I'm getting about 48 oz. liquid per day without too much difficulity - just sip, sip, sip. I want to thank all of you for your prayers and notes of encouragement!
