I just had my surgery on 1/12/05. I am doing well, for the first time I have had stomach problems the last two days. I am a little down in the dumbs, I guess I am just lonely. I spent many years not getting close to people because I was so uncomfortable in my skin, now I wish I had them. I live in Orlando with my husband. He has been great to me. But he is at work now so I am on my own. I look forward to talking to others and cheering them on. Thanks Jennifer

Hello! Welcome! My name is Kim and I am a 25 yr old pre-op from Lake Mary. I live with my fiance Andrew- we have been together for 7 years (high school sweethearts) and we both grew up in Philly (GO EAGLES!) I still haven't decided on a surgeon but I am planning on seeing Dr.Murr. Who did you have? I just graduate college a year ago from Penn State with a BS in Bioevolutionary Psychology. My biggest plan after surgery is to go back for my Masters and maybe even a PhD. I miss school, but because of my comorbidities (severe back pain, sleep apnea, and migraines ) it is hard to work or be at school now due to it being so hard to get around. Let me know if there is anything I can tell you about. I am pre-op, so at this point I may not be much help- but welcome to the FL board!!! Congrats on your surgery! Sincerely, Kim

Thanks Kim, right now it is just nice to have people to communicate with. I am 28 and live in Orlando. I used Dr. Overcash in Ocala, I think he is a good doctor. I am going to join a support group in Lake Mary and I think that will be good, to see people in all stages. There are so many things to look forward to after the surgery. I am like you, I would like to go back to school but have not because of my weight. I have a Ba is Business. I really hope that everything comes together for you. It can be frusterating to get approved for the surgery, but it is worth it. I have lost 20ilbs in my first two weeks so I feel good, I can already feel my pants getting bigger. Jennifer

Welcome Jennifer! The Florida Board is a wonderful place to find information and support. The first couple of months post-op can be rough during your adjustment period, but after that it gets better and better! Hugs, Erika L

Welcome to our little corner of the internet! I live in Longwood, what part of Orlando are you in? I wish you had joined last week because you could have met so many of us last weekend at our Meet and Greet in Altamonte. But there are some support groups in the area and we will give you lots of support here, just ask. As far as being down right now, that is typical for a while after surgery. It may be the afteraffects of surgery, mourning food, fear of failure, etc but I promise you it gets better with time. Hang in there! Please don't hesitate to ask for support or advice on here, we have a great group of core people who always offer suggestions. I also know there are lots of lurkers who might have the same problem but dont post their questions or concerns so they learn thru others experiences. Good luck and congrats on making such a huge move to gain a happier, healthier lifestyle! Amy -143lb.
