Hey there, looks like you've got your hands full. But eveyone's advice is true, hubby has to get involved, after all if something does happen (god forbid) he'll never forgive himself for not doing all he could to prevent it. As far as being an advocate, talk again with your surgeon and his office and patients and find out what to expect in the hospital after your surgery, from the extreme (what could go wrong) to a pristine post op experience....that way you'll already know and won't get nervous that the staff has missed something. Pay close attention to your body and the way you feel and get the staff to stay involved, don't worry about becoming a problem, they are there to take care of you and if they still don't meet your expectations, call your surgeon or his office yourself and tell him whats going on. In addition, I live in ft Lauderdale and am very familiar with SMH, so if you'd like I can even visit and help you out if you'd like, because, as mentioned before, nurses for hire can be pricey at best. Best of luck! [email protected]

Thank you so much for your kind support. Hubby went with me to appointments at the internist and surgeon, plus the pre-registration at the hospital, and he seems to feel a little better. I think he will be supportive. Please have me in your thoughts for my surgery on 1/20!! Thank you.
