Just a little vent..

Hi everyone! I wanted to vent about something that has occurred recently with people posting their experiences on their own OH profiles. I've always though that when you posted something in your own personal profile here on OH, that it was your right to vent your good news, bad news, and your frustrations?? Atleast that's what I've always used mine for. Yesterday I was chatting with a fellow WLS journey friend, who was telling me that she had used to use her profile for the same thing. Until one day she started receiving emails from another WLS patient. Let's just say that these emails were not of support. More of criticism and negative comments. Who here as posters and profile keepers have a right to tell another profiler what they can or can't post in their profile?? Especially when the person is posting about their own true life experiences with their WLS journey??? Well with the exception to an administrator?? Why be so petty to continually email the person criticizing the profile contents and going as far to make personal character judgements on the person?? Any thoughts on this?? Personally I think that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Karee

Karee, what were the criticisms?? Were they over using curse words too much or poor spelling and/or grammar? Or eating bad things (food police issues)? Or was it criticizing the profiler's emotions (for feeling scared, happy, sad)?? What was the nature of the emails? Without knowing that, it's hard to make a reasonable comment, except to say that I might not agree with anything you say or how you say it, but you've got the right to say it. Jan, The person who was criticized about their profile, had posted honestly and openly about her experiences with different people along the way of her journey. And she received emails basically telling her she was wrong to do so and going as far as calling names. I've also experienced something similar when I posted on the board about a frustration! And yanno what, I received the same negative response from the same person! Karee

Well, then I guess this tells me more about the person writing the hate emails!! This person just has nothing else to do with her time! Have you bothered to look up this person and see if SHE has a profile?? If not, then you're just dealing with a troll. If she does, then she's just a trouble maker. In any case, I sure wouldn't take it personally. This person isn't worth your effort!!! Tell your friend to take care and keep up her profile!! And you can tell her that I said so!! Jan
