HI, MY NAME IS JOANN, AND I'M NEW AT THIS ,I HAD MY FIRST APPT WITH THE LAPAROSCOPIC WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY CENTER JAN.3 THIS YEAR, I DONT KNOW HOW TO GO ABOUT GETTING STARTED WITH THE MONEY END OF THINGS. Joann Do you have insurance? What did they say about costs and payment when you went for your appointment? I have seen people who have self paid post messages indicating the total costs have run from anywhere from $25,000-50,000. It depends on the area you live in and your surgeon. Many people have insurance that covers the surgery. Many private employer provider health plans cover the surgery (although many do not). I believe medicare and medicaid cover the surgery; I have also read about vocational rehabilitation services in Florida covering the surgery. I myself have no experience with anything other my own insurance carrier. But I am sure if you will post some specific questions on the message board you will get answers to many of your questions. Hi Amber, I do not remember the exact cost of surgery, but I was going to have the Lap band with them. They will finance for one year, up to a certain amount. Have you looked at other surgeons like, if you want the lapband call Dr. Grossbard in Z-Hills (it's $16, 700 at Palms of Pasadena and about the same for Pasco Regional. He also works from Tamap General) Dr. Rhenke in St. Pete/ Palms of Pasadena Hospital they do the lapband for $16,700 & the RNY , but I forgot the cost. They have financing for them. Dr. Grossbard is my doctor and I have met and dealt with Dr. Rhenke and the staff and they are both great offices. They also understand the "talking on the phone thing".
