Weight loss plateau I had surgery on 11/29/04 and to date I have lost 43 pounds. I lost the first 20 pounds prior to surgery while on liquids. Since 12/18 I have lost only 3 pounds. I dont understand why. According to my nutritionist I should be lossing 1 pound a day. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks Deb

Yes, we have all been through it, and I mean through it. I know saying this will not make you feel better. But it will pass, I was on a plateau for the longest 3 weeks of my life about 3 months out. I have started just ignoring it and eventually I start losing again. Please don't feel that it's you. As long as your getting water, protein and walking thats all that matters, don't forget vitamins. Keep in touch. tina

I plateaued for a little over a month. Now I'll lose for about 2-3 days, then stop and readjust then lose again. Yes it is frustrating, but keep doing everything right. What helped me was actually to increase my calories a bit. Kristen

Deb, A plateau is normal. We have different things about our bodies that contribute to these things. Having WLS, we almost feel as though we should be immune to plateauing since it only happened 6 weeks ago or so, but we aren't. We have "that time" of the month, we have other exterior factors such as stress, we have so much that contributes to our weight that we don't even realize. Do you happen to keep a food journal? I know that sometimes you can identify a food or activity that is aiding in your weight plateau or weight loss. For instance, a personal experience, I sometimes don't have time for lunch. So, I started keeping nuts in my drawer at work to eat for lunch during those times. I mean, I looked at the package and thought, well, it's high in fat, but no sugar and high in protein - pretty good, right? NOPE. I stalled! The weeks that I skipped lunch and ate nuts a lot, I wouldn't lose but 1 pound. When I ate right and skipped the nuts, I would lose. Just a personal experience. I hope that your weight loss picks up soon and those pounds be dropping like flies. ;) Have a Happy New Year, Trudi
