Anyone else having problems with Dr. Murr?

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had problems with Dr. Murrs office? I've had nothing but difficulties and am getting nowhere. My insurance office called last night and we went over my whole chart. Apparently they never recieved all the information from the office which in turn is the reason for my denial TWICE! I have called numerous times for my records and sent a fax dated Oct 22. Still no records. Susan is out for awhile but she never helped either. Now Michelle seems to want to help but keeps referring me to Tammy with Smart. I've talked to her a few times and still no records. I have a phone hearing on Jan 4. The insurance said if they do not recieve the records that are missing it will probably be denied again! That is my last chance. I know a lot of you are probably questioning why don't I switch surgeons. Well, I trust the surgeon and ultimately he's the one that will matter. Today I will attempt again to get this information but I've had it. Also, I lost a couple months because they coded it wrong for bypass surgery until I caught it by calling the insurance company. This is so frustrating, I don't know what else to do. Is it just me? OR has anyone experienced this as well?

The only thinkg I can tell you is to go down to the office and demand a copy of your whole chart. And then I would find another surgeon. I used Dr. Haicken and he is wonderful.

I agree w/ Melissa how can you trust such an incompetant office. I would go in person & demand the file & not leave w/out it. Remind them of the numerous attempt you have made for it & also remind them that thanks to their negligance they are costing you your surgery from being approved. If you are denied again it will be your last chance. Also you really need to talk to the surgeon & let him know what is going on w/ his staff. You should not be going through this because of their negligance. good luck carolyn

I too had problems with Dr. Murr's office. I am 15 days post-op, lap RNY. I started this whole process in March of this year. I just did have surgery before the end of the year - my insurance will not pay for wls after January. Dr. Murr came highly recommended as I have a few friends who used him for wls. I was initially denied by my insurance because I was missing information (weight loss history of 5 years). After a few more weeks of tracking down my records, I faxed over all the paperwork that the insurance company was missing. Susan told me that they had already submitted an appeal on my behalf roughly 2 weeks earlier and I didn't even know it. I was too busy trying to gather my weight loss history. I just barely faxed over my missing info in time for the insurance to approve it, or else they would have denied me for the 2nd time. I was very frustrated. It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. My file too was not coded for bypass surgery. Only the gall bladder removal and the liver biopsy was approved. It took about a month off my being approved. Susan and Michelle and Tammy were all very, very nice, but in my opinion, they are not real organized. Hope you get things straightened out. It might help to make a personal appearance. Good luck to you.

Wow- it makes me feel better I'm not the only one with these problems. As far as making an appearance in the office, I live 2 1/2 hrs away. It's not that easy. Otherwise, you bet I would of been there after the second phone call. Well I had slight success today. Michelle faxed me all my records but still nothing from SPECTRA which is my psych eval, dietary consult, Dr. consult etc. That is what I need. I already had everything else. SO, tomorrow Michelle will get yet another phone call. I told her SPECIFICALLY what I needed. I even asked her if she was writing it down. I never recieved a single thing I requested. I would of switched doctors but it's too late. I've already lost one appeal due to lack of records not sent. NOw this is my last and I submitted it myself on the last day I could Dec 18. I plan on telling Dr. Murr after all this. I have kinda kept a little journal. THey are very unorganized and Michelle has been very up front about learning as she goes. I wish the office had more experience but oh well I like the surgeon. I just have to continue to fight! Thanks for all your replys and it does make me feel better I'm not alone in this. Tammy
