paying cash, need information
Who has paid cash for their wls. My insurance won't pay. Aside from TOTAL COSTS, has anyone heard of "supplemental ins" like they do for labor and delivery "in case" of difficulties?
Do you know of different Doctors/Centers in MIAMI that "like" cash paying clients?
Are there specific questions i should ask, since my insurance is not involved, and there is no one to fall back on?
appreciate the help.

Jenie, this probably wouldn't work at all, but I was amazed at how much the hospital and surgeon billed for my WLS compared to what they actually were paid. I think my surgeon was worth every penny he billed, but he got so much less than that. I think you might try to negotiate better rates and site the fact that insurance doesn't really pay all that well anyway. It couldn't hurt and you might be able to get a deal. Just be prepared to have to pay whatever they ask!
Good luck!

HI.
I too, paid cash for my surgery. My surgeon had a flat fee that covered surgery, his visits in the hospital and my post-op visits. The hospital that I went too had a negotiated flat rate for 3 days in the hospital of $12,000 and if in any longer it was $500 per day. If you require additional xrays that was extra, but all lab work was included. I also did have extra bills that came in from the intensivist who visited while I was in ICU, the radiologist, and the anesthesiologist. However, my insurance paid the anesthesiologist bill. Good Luck!
