```I haven't posted in awhile, but I just want to die! I have been working on this for over 2 years and several thousand dollars later (as alot of you I'm sure). Back in July I had all my ducks in a row and was ready to proceed. I had an appointment with my surgeon on July 9th. A few days prior to that they called and said he was going to be out of the office and the soonest they could reschedule for was was sept. 9. Of course I took it. Everthing went well, my surgery was scheduled for mid December. Whoo hooooo!!! Until September 17th. You all know that wonderful corporation AutoNation? You know, supposedly the one that is the largest car dealership on the east coast (or something like that). The multi-billion dollar corporation? If you don't I can tell you now they are crooks!! My husband specifically choose the company because this procedure was covered. Well, guess what! They sent out a newsletter that was received by most employees between Sept. 17th and the 20th. I received mine on the 17th. On page 4 of the newsletter it talked about how costly obesity is and what a health risk it is. Then on the next page it is a bullitin informing us that AutoNation would no longer cover WLS after Aug. 30th. Nice of them to notify us 2-3 weeks after the fact. Needless to say my insurance precertification was denied. I had spoken to BCBS several times and they said I would have been approved had AutoNation not excluded it just 9, yes 9 days prior to my submission. Can you believe it. I have appealed and BCBS said they would make the exception if AutoNation would. Of course NO NO NO NO. All they could say is "there has to be a cutoff somewhere." I understand that too but don't they have to notify you PRIOR to the fact? I could have made some sort of emergency arrangement. I want to cry scream trow something and then do something else. Does anyone have any suggestions as to any other avenue? I was thinking media or attny? Anyone with any experience or that has had to change ins com. in the middle of everything?? Sorry about the long post but I REALLY needed to vent. Love to you all! Mindy
No expert here. But I would talk to an attorney. Makes sense that any change in benefits should require advance notification. Of course if you do talk to an attorney there could be repercusions for your husband on his job. Only you and he know how far you are willing to go with this.
Thank you. I think he would be fine because his delarship is behind me all the way. His HR rep was apalled that they could change anything before open enrollment because WE can't change anything before then. I am going to contact an attorney for sure! Only we who have been through this process know exactly how much time, money and burden is endured in this whole process. They treated me like I broke my finger or somthing. Thanks for your support!! God Bless, Mindy
Mindy, Contact the insurance commissioner's office. They can tell you if what happen was done wrong or can be fixed and it doesn't cost you anything. They will have you write up your complaint and someone has to investigate it and get back to you. Good luck. Carol
