Insurance approval

Hi everyone...I have a question about insurance approval. I am going to have Humana PPO starting Jan. 2005 and I do not know if there is an exclusion for this surgery. So I wanted to know if anyone has had any problems getting this surgery approved having all the requirements and also, if anyone has had any luck getting this surgery approved with an exclusion in their policy? I really appreciate any comments. Thanks.

Carla, Call Humana and ask them directly if there are any exclusions in your policy. Many employers have added the exclusion so it really depends on the actual policy, not just the insurance company. If there arent any exclusions, ask them what the requirements are for WLS approval since those differ by insurance company too. Good luck! Amy

I don't have Humana, but a friend of mine does. She called and they told her that her specific policy does. She is having a lap band at the Cleveland Clinic, I believe it's the one in Miami and not Weston. Dr. Rosenthal is the Doctor. Call Humana and ask them to look at your actual pociy. Terri
