Hi Jan, That is correct - 17g a day for the last three weeks. I know that I have to ficus on protein, I've just been so ill from recurrent bronchitis and not feeling well from the vomiting. Kim turned me on to a yummy protein drink that tastes like eggnog (thanks again!!) and I also have some Protein Ice drinks which have 40g per bottle - I *will* drink one tomorrow and add Unjury to something, anything. Amazingly enough, I am not dehydrated. So I am going to focus on getting more protein in tomorrow - take it one day at a time again. Yes, I have experiented with food temps, consistencies, and I am eating slower than ever. I will definitely call my surgeon first thing in the morning because this cannot continue. Thanks again for your advice. Kristen

You could add some Unjury unflavored protein to the drink to up the protein count even more. I'm gonna try that myself this week. Another thought, you could also try adding some of the unflavored powder to the soup and yogurt you were gonna try to eat. Jan is right, you have to get more protein in...soon!

Until you can see your doctor, I would suggest liquids only. I started out with clear liquids then added soups, jello and puddings, runny grits and oatmeal. I think at this point you need to increse your fluids with adding some protien. Although it was early post op, we did not worry about protein at the very first. That came about 6 weeks out. I think now you just need to be able to tolerate some type of food. Concentrate on getting a certain amount of liquids in your body on a daily basis. I had to back track once due to a stomach virus. It never hurts to go back to what you can do and try to increase in small doses. Do you have a nutrionist at your doctos office that you can call tomorrow?

Hi Martha, Thank you for your response! I will go back to the liquids and soft foods ASAP, and work on increasing my protein fluids. I am tolerating fluids well, so that is good. I'll be able to speak with the nutritionist tomorrow as well as my surgeon, so they will confirm my plan and also help me to get back on track. Kristen

As for the protein, why don't you order some Unjury, its unflavored but you can add it to whatever you are eating. I'm saving mine till surgery and have been using LoCarb Slimfast...Same concept with vitamins, mine are from yourvitamins (the ususal to get there) These vitamins I have taken over 20 years. Some days I open the capsules which are powder and mix it into my protein drink, you can put the vitamins right in your food, they are powder. There are no fillers in these vitamins. Very pure....I hope that helps. I'm pre surgery but I have suffered with a stomach disorder for nearly 30 yrs.

I agree with what everyone is saying. Go back to the liquids for now and please be sure to drink those protein drinks. That will be your only saving grace. Ask your doctor if he works with a nutritionist at all and see if you can get an appointment with them. They may be able to get you back on track. Something is making you sick and it might not be just the food. You could have something else bugging you. I wish you all the best!!!

Good morning, Thank you to everyone who has responded! You have all been exceptionally helpful. Yesterday was the worst - two petite quiches at 9:15am...and I finished vomiting at 2:30pm. It was agony. I threw up a lot of it, but it also felt like some was going down too, painfully. I spoke with the doctors office and I'll be seen, probably tomorrow (my son is very ill). They think that it most likely is a stricture forming, so I may need an endoscopy done. Blech. So I am on all liquids and I am focusing on my protein liquids. I am pleased to report that I lost a pound - but what a way to do it!!! Kristen
