Brevard County Band on GB Surgery?

I just got a call from Roxie at Dr. Tenewitz's office and their gastric program is on hold. They are still doing lap band -- but no gastric bypass surgeries. She said they hoped to resume the program in March. When I asked why she said it was a county band. Anyone know anything about this?

I called the Brevard County Medical Society to see if I could get any additional information. She referred to an office at the state level. She said that it would be very unusual for something like this to occur at the county level.

Hmmm, Tenewicz stopped doing surgery early this year too, they turned away people who went to the monthly info session, said his surgeries were on hold due to high malpractice insurance costs. Then a few weeks later, things were back to normal. I know two people who had surgery done by him last year and they are so happy with him and the entire practice. I hope they get it sorted out or there will be many pre-ops looking for a new surgeon. Good luck!

It all seems a little curious. This afternoon I looked up the Brevard Medical Society on line to get their telephone number. Just for the heck of it I did a member search and found Dr. Tenewitz listed. Then when I called the Brevard County Medical Society, she said Dr. Tenewitz was the only doctor in Brevard county doing gastric bypass and then went on to say "and since he is not a member of the society ..." I told her that was funny because their website listed him as a member. She said "that is an oversight on my part." This was about 5:00 this afternoon. Then around 8:00pm I went back to the site and did a search and his name did not come up.

Sounds political to me.
