After finding out yesterday I was approved (which took 2 years of fighting to get from BCBS of FL) I had to try and find a doctor because mine would no longer take my insurance and know I find out that I am only approved if I have my surgery done before 12/31/04 after that they wil no cover it even though they have just approved me. How am I going to find a Doctor that will do it before 12/31/04? Yesterday I was so happy.

1st of all, congrats on being approved!! Now, let's talk turkey!! Gather all your paperwork, start calling around and get in every waiting list possible!!! Do you have all your tests done? All your evaluations and such up to date????? Even if you have to drive all over FL to have it done. It is better than having to pay full price! Get to work chica, looks like all ins. companies are putting us on a run against the clock!!!! I said it before to someone else: DO NOT LET THEM WIN!!! The hard part is already done, you have been approved, a lot of people don't even have that! You got 30 days, seems like nothing but that's re4ally not that bad if you find people wiling to wrok w/ you and help you out! I guess now it is the time to prove how bad you want this WLS!! GOOD LUCK & KEEP US POSTED!!! -Flávia

The docs in Tally are aware of the BCBS 12/31/04 deadline. See if they have any openings. Dr. Sieloff did have 12/9 but I turned it down b/c I know so many are in an insurance time crunch and mine isn't changing in 2005. If not, get back on this list and ask for help. Ask all the FL members 3 things: 1 - Did you use BCBS of FL insurance to pay for your wls? 2 - If yes, what is your surgeon's name, location & phone # and were you pleased with his/her care? 3 - If I want more info about your surgeon, would you be willing to call your surgeon and ask him/her the following for me: a. Are you still a BCBS of FL provider? b. If you're not a BCBS of FL provider, do you accept BCBS of FL allowance as payment in full? c. What types of wls do you do (RNY - open or lap, DS, lapband, etc) d. Can you squeeze me in for (type) surgery before my BCBS coverage expires on 12/31/04? The folks on this board are soooo helpful. I'm sure you'll have others that are willing to help you search for someone GOOD that can work you in. Just be sure to check references on anyone you choose. Best of luck! Vickie J.

Once approved, Dr. Overcash in Ocala tries to get his surgeries scheduled within two weeks. Give them a call and see if they take BC/BS and if they can get you in. Good luck!

Just an idea - I was first app. for one Dr. The hospital would not let him do the surgery anymore. The only reason I bring it up is my Ins. Co. Aetna, negotiated a fee directly with his office. I ended up changing to DR Murr in Tampa. He was on my insurance and evertything worked out. Good luck I just thought that it might just give you another option.

You are still approved so be HAPPY. Just realize you have to get busy. My surgeon in Jax, Dr. Webb was scheduling 2 weeks after first visit. Of course you have to have all the other test done. BUT I went to Dr. Young there in Jax as a PCP and he gave me prescriptions for all the tests. I brought them back to Panama City and Tallahassee and had the tests done here. It can be done but you have to stay busy. Just do like Flavia said and start calling and checking off names. When you get on someones list, don't stop there. I had two surgeons trying to get me in when I ended up in Jacksonville. I said Sorry to them and went to the one with the time for me and that I was comfortable with. Good luck and please let us know if you need anything or just want to vent. We care Carol

Try Dr Wizman, he's in coral springs in s fl. if you hurry he had 2 openings, one on the 10th and one on the 13th (if my ins would have approved me i would have had it on one of those 2 days) he takes bc/bs and does lap, you will be out of the hospital in 2 days. he has a web site it's WWW.DRWIZMAN.COM good luck to you
