Need help finding a doctor
After 2 years of fighting with my insurance they have approved me. But I need a doctor to do it. I live in Tallahassee and there are only 2 docs here that I know of and one will not accept my insurance and the other will but the hospital anesthesiologist will not accept my insurance. So I am looking for a doctor in Jacksonville, Gainesville or maybe even Orlando and Tampa. Does anyone know a good doctor?
Kandy,
I also have BCBS & live in Tallahassee and I think I know what you're talking about. I am having my surgery w/ Dr. Sieloff at Tallahassee Memorial. Go to my profile & click on "e-mail me". I'd love to discuss some of the things I've found out. If you'll give me your phone number I'll call you back tonight, unless you're an early to bed gal (I'm a night owl so I'm always up until late). Don't get discouraged!

Wow, you got approved without having a surgeon? interesting...
Check out the surgeons on the main Florida page for lots of reviews surgeons, then narrow down the field based on which ones take your insurance, that helped me scale down my choices. There is only one surgeon in the Orlando area (Dr. Kim) at Celebration in Kissimmee. A couple surgeons in Ocala (Overcash and Jawad), I know there are several in GVL and Jax but I am not familiar with any of them since I wasnt considering going that far for surgery.
Good luck

I used Eric Thoburn, Center for Obesity in Gainesvile. He is very good, has a 12 month follow up plan and a nutritionist. He has been doing the surgery for 10 years and everything is like clock work. They also follow up with you on a daily basis for about 2 weeks after your surgery. I have BCBS of Fl.
Kandy,
I'm from Graceville, FL just west of Tallahassee. I know it's a little far to go but I used Dr. L. Steve Weinstein at Mobile Infirmary Surgical Association in Mobile, AL. I also have BCBS and when researching I found out they would approve your request for another state as long as they are in the BCBS system and the doctor was part of that system. Dr. Weinstein is great and does Lap RNY. I had the surgery on Wed. afternoon and was released on Sat. with the stipulation that I had to stop every 45 minutes and walk around the car til I got home. Not much to be able to go home. It's been 4 months and no problems.
