Skin Donation for burned victims

Is it true that if you want to donate your extra hanging skin that any procedure is free. That is if you donate to burned victims. Please help answer this. If it is true can you tell me where to start to look into this further. I do not know where to look up this information. Someone told me this and I am hoping that I can get the honest to god truth off of here. Because that would be great for all us bariatric patients to be able to help out some people with our extra hanging skin. Please help me out if possible.

Nope, not true, urban legend. Our skin is too stretched and useless for that. Sorry. Patty

Tricia, we have had a couple of people look into this, and it's not feasible. They have to match it like blood donations, and you would have to be ready at a minutes notice to donate when the need arose. And it's actually cheaper and better for them to grow new skin and then graft it. Sorry.
