Question of the Day
Flavia,
You want to join me and my family for our version of a very casual Thanksgiving? My mother is going to visit her sister in Missouri this year since they havent seen each other in almost 10 years. So we are eating at my sister's home (I'm bringing the mock honey-glazed carrots this year, they are WLS-friendly and yummy). I'll spend most of the time there looking at the newspaper ads and figuring out where I'll shop on Friday. It will be pretty mellow, not formal one bit. I am so serious, you are more than welcome to join us in Longwood!
Amy

For the first time ever, I am totally OFF, not even "on call"
I'll be at home with my family, we always cook up a huge meal (for an army almost since we never know who will pop in the door) although everyone's teasing that they can cook for 1/2 a person less this year
We always watch, or atleast try to listen to the parade. I love this time of year between Thanksgiving & Christmas.

Last year my daughter in law said from now on she will do Thanksgiving and I will do Christmas. Fine with me since she is Jewish. Called my son to ask what was on for Thanksgiving and he said they were planning to come to my house. Problem is that my younger son has to work and they live close to him so he could be there but not here. She does not feel up to having it at her house.
Oh well, my husband does not like Thanksgiving dinner anyway.

Tomorrow night we are leaving for NY..state not the city
Last year we flew up with just the baby, this year all 5 of us are driving up for a week. My mother-in-law lives with her boyfriend in a 6 bedroom log home that he built himself, it is so beautiful. This year they are planning on 40 people over...3 turkeys are made, steak...ok just a lot of food! We have a huge party in the garage, which is heated and the floors are scrubed daily I swear...the boyfriend is anal-retentive. I am looking forward to seeing everyone up there...I am even excited about the snow.

My dh, and two daughters will be traveling to Ky to my parents home. They live in a huge log house on top of a mountain. We will be meeting up with at least 20 of the relatives and enjoying a few days of eating and playing and talking. (boy can we talk)
My sisters and daughters and I will help with the cooking when we get there. That way mom gets to have it at her house and yet not do all the work. This is the only time of year i get to see some of my family.
We will have lots to be thankful for this year. My father had a stroke that paralyzed his right side in March. The power of prayer and lots of hard work on his part and he is almost completely back to normal. I have a new grandson (#11) this year. I am the shrinking woman and I have met a wonderful group of people (that is you all) that have made me feel great and been very supportive. You all are the greatest.
I guess my blessings were great this year.
Carol
