Did anyone hear about this petition?

I saw this address on another board and didn't know if anyone else knew about this. Looks like it might help people that are trying to have the surgery but are having trouble with their insurance companies. I had signed this a long time ago, of course I haven't heard much about it since. I guess we need a resident WLS politician to keep us in the know on how things are progressing toward acceptance of WLS as a medically necessary surgery from ALL insurance companies. Amy- The title is Lobbyist. And why don't we have someone in Washington looking out for our interests. I think it is a good idea. Every day, in every corner of this great land of ours obese people face discrimination in the workplace, housing, transportation, not to the discrimination we face from the insurance and medical establishment. I think a lobbyist is a great idea.

I think you are right. It really ticks me off to hear about discriminations because of size. I can't even imagine how many times in my life I have felt discriminated against because I was fat. Carol

NO, I HAD NOT HEARD OF IT. BUT THANKS FOR THE LINK. I DID SIGN IT ALONG WITH LEAVING MY COMMENTS. PHARMACUETICAL COMPANIES HAVE MADE ENOUGH MONEY OFF OF THE HEALTH OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. THEY HAVE TAPPED INTO THE LIVES OF EVERY ONE IN THE USA. MAYBE IT WAS A FRIEND, FAMILY MEMBER, ETC. THAT WAS GIVEN DIFFERENT MEDICINES FOR WHAT EVER DX. THEY HAD, BUT NONE THE LESS, MOST OF THEM JUST TREAT THE SYMPTOM AND NOT THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. EACH CASE IS DIFFERENT. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO WLS. A SURE KNOWN FACT THAT THIS WILL RESOVLE SOME ROOT PROBLEMS THAT WE ARE HAVING, I FEEL THAT THE LOBBYIST NEED TO STEP IN AND EARN THEIR MONEY. TOO LONG HAVE WE SUFFERED AND SWEATED WITH DISAPPOINTMENTS AND DENIALS. THE INSURANCE COMPAINES NEED TO BE CHECKED AND MADE TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO WHAT THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DO: GIVE AND AND ENSURE THAT WE HAVE GOOD HEALTH. PREVENTITIVE MEASURES COST FAR LESS THAN TREATING SOME ONE UNTIL THY ACTUALLY DIE FROM WHAT EVER DX. THEY MAY HAVE. IT IS SENSELESS AND UNFAIR.
