Help! I have horrible heart burn & it won't go away

I need everyones help. I have horrible heart burn and it won't go away. Today is the 3rd day home since surgery and I have not been able to shake this heartburn. It is causing so much gas in my stomach, burping, etc. that I can't fall asleep. Can anyone help? I have sucked on 2 tums, no help, I have inserted a nexium in my G-tube, no help. PLEASE HELP. mARILYN

Since you are on such a light diet immediately post-op, I am surprised you are experiencing that type of sensation, unless it is actually the gases built up from surgery that you are feeling. I think you should contact your doctor to make sure it is just heartburn.

I plan on doing that this morning. I have now developed saveer case of diaheria as well. I have not selpt more than an hour at a time today. I feel like I have to burp every 10 seconds and I have noticed my drain tube filling up quite often this past day too. Thanks Amy. Marilyn

Marilyn, I'm so sorry you're having this problem. I also had diarrhea for the first few days out, but not the kind of awful heartburn you're talking about. I hope you've gotten some relief AND some sleep!! Jan
