Therapy re post op, know anyone spec in eating disorders?

My surgery is Dec 7th. I know that I will have Head Hunger post op. I need to find a person who specials in obese people or people with eating disorders. I have UHC, I live in Volusia County, but I'm willing to travel. I have a history of depression and I'm on meds that are really working for me. Do I crush the pills/take them whole, what do I do? Hi, do not know a doctor in your area, so can't help you there. As far a meds for depression, I found out the hard way, pills would not work for me. After 4 weeks of wanting to take the whole bottle, I went to see my srink. He put me on a liquid form. Let me tell you, within 2 days, I was a new person. The pills I would crush, take them 3x a day and still I did not absorb the meds. Now is the time to speak with your doctor. I know there are several types of anti-depression meds that come in liquid form. You will also go through some depression as a result of surgery, so you need to start the liquid asap after your surgery.

Marla is 100% correct! 1) You will need the liquid form, & 2) If you are prone to depression, you will get depressed post op. The Dr. that did your psych. evaluation should be able to give you some names... If no one can point you in the right direction, call UHC Behavioural Health, the number is on the back of your card. Ask for someone specialized in the area, go see him/her. If you don't like the first one, go down the list, you are bound to find someone that can help you. There are lost of good professionals out there. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO, AND SHOULD NOT TRY TO DO THIS ALONE!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!! -Flávia
