Cigna Insurance

Is there anyone out there who has been approved by Cigna for surgery on an appeal? I was denied the first time because I didn't have a nutritional evaluation and 6 months of weigh ins at the DR's office. I have now satisfied all of their requirements and have appealed their decision. Also has anyone had their surgery done by Dr Dy and were you pleased. Thanks, Deb

Hi there... I have cigna and was denied... said "screw-it' and am going self-pay, not that i can just fork over 12.800.$... went to a site called Cignasqeakywheels.com and heared about a lady named roberta. she is a pt. advocate and is now handl'n my appeal. Maybe a second chance ...gloria

Alexa, Did you do an appeal? If so when did you resubmit? Just curious as to how long it's been so I can judge mine. My appeal has been in Cigna's hands for 3 weeks now. I will pray that Cigna approves you.

I was declined for lap-band. Cigna said I needed 6 months dieting, and that they didn't cover lap-band but, would consider Gastric Bypass. So, anyway, I finished the 6 month diet with Dr. and resubmitted and was approved for RNY. As long as you have met all of their requirements, 6 month MD supervised diet, nutritionist, ect. you should be fine. My MD had to stay on top of them though, because they said they didn't recieved my paperwork after 10 times of faxing it to them. Go, figure. I had to wait 3 to 4 weeks to get my appproval. I got it 2 weeks ago and surgery is today Good luck - Dru

Hello Deb, I was denied by Cigna POS and filed an appeal, I did the 6 months supervised diet w/ a physician and a nutritionist and it was approved. Good Luck and keep on bugging them!
