Hi Shylo, Dr. Haicken is wonderful!!! He did my surgery just about 8 wks ago. He is so very careful and thorough. He only does the open RNY or duodenal switch. The process is very similar to most surgeons. You have lab work, CXR, abdominal ultrasound, evaluation by psychiatriast or psychologist, eval by pulmonology with sleep study unless you are already on a CPAP machine, eval by GI with an EGD done to rule out ulcers, tumors etc., eval by nutritionist and just recently you have an evaluation by an excercise physiologist also. If you have ever taken Phen-fen, even one dose you must also get cardiac clearance. Dr Haicken has his own website and you can also email for information. I am a nurse and have known Dr Haicken's work for 20 yrs. I trust him and would highly recommend him to you. If I can answer any questions please feel free to email me. [email protected] Good Luck!
