How much is the Lap Band Surgery for self pay?

My stupid insurance is going to stop covering weight loss surgery as of Jan 1. Well, I don't have time to get approved before then. You have to have 6 months of going to the dr where you tried to lose weight with him/her. I have high bp, knee problems, feet problems and a bmi of 37 and a lifelong history of attempts to lose weight and then just to gain it back. Yet my stupid insurance company won't approve me without the 6 months of charted weight loss attempt. The surgeons won't even see me without it. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Sorry, I am just very aggravated at bcbs choice right now. I think it is unfair and I need the surgery says my doc but no way to get it covered now because they make it so dang difficult to get approved!! I can't change insurance until next June, ugh!! So my only other option is to pay for it myself, any idea if there is a way to get it financed and how much it would be? Thanks!

Mine will cost about $12,800. This does not include the Upper GI, Cardiac Clearance(For older patient),GB ultrasound etc that the surgeon requires. At http://www.jawadmd.com/ there is a list of costs.

Hi there...I am going self-pay ..also with Dr.Jaward in Ocala 12.800$ and surg is the 19th at the laser/ surgical center in ocala.. it includes anesth. fee, 3 fills..My upper g.I. was 700.00, H.Pylori test was 80.00 lab work will run about 500.00 and chest x-ray..hope i can sneak some of those through..Then there is the motel in Ocala for the 1st night post-op.I live 4 hours south of there, so just to be on the safe side I'm staying there...costly i know, but after all these years of eating... going to be worth it!! good luck...gloria

My Mom had her lap band done with Dr. Grossbard in Zephyrhills. She paid $16,500.00 and the included everything I believe. Karee
