I wish I knew! My daughter asked me to take her and her friends to Blockbuster to rent movies right before it started. My hubby taped it for me, but for some reason it has NO sound! So I didn't get to see it either! Linda

I DVR'd it (like TiVo) but haven'****ched it yet. I'll be happy to give you my review later this weekend. I wasn't home either because I was at a PartyLite candle party. Jan

I love Partylite! I actually sold it about 6 years before you could find scented candles everywhere like now. I sold it for about 8 months, got all the stuff I wanted and made about $250/mo just doing one party per week. Then after I broke a huge 3 wick holder in my car that was over a $100 (even at consultant price) to replace and then dripped wax on a hostess' new carpet, I decided I didnt like selling it much anymore. I am still addicted to candles, just not the selling part !

Partylite is so awesome! My favorite is the carmel candles! They just smell sooo good! As far as Dateline, it was a really good show! They showed the good and the bad. The nice thing, the bad wasn't portrayed like it normally is. Al Roker interviewed the gentlman who died after surgery's widow. She was of course upset about it, but didn't say don't ever do it like most normally do. She just told people to make sure they are informed, make sure they do their research, etc. They also focused on Teen WLS. It was a very positive show and that was such a nice change of pace since this generally gets so much bad publicity.

I've been to a Partylite party and the after the woman explained to us why we needed a candle putter outer thingy during the party...I watched her blow out all the display candles when she started to tear down.

I thought it was pretty good overall. Title was "Weighing the Risks". It was not as detailed as some would like, but it presented both sides of the story. They talked about the emotional problems some have after "losing their best friend", food, for comfort. The widow felt they were not adequately warned about the possible complications, or at least SHE was not. Sounds like her hubby did research, but maybe not enough or didn't pass everything on to her and the surgeon's seminar sounded like it had more testimonials than info on potential problems. Of course, they also said that many who want this surgery may not truly listen when those things are discussed (it is easy to only hear what we want to hear). Al Roker talked about how he still has to exercise 5 days a week (he still hates it) and closely watch what he eats - wls is no magic cure but a tool to accomplish a goal. They did present info on the health improvement benefits and reasons for having wls but stressed that you should do your homework, and research, research, research before you decide. "Weigh the risks" pretty much says it all. Vickie J.

I watched it too and I think Vicky does a good snyposis of the show. I know prior to surgery I wanted to know everything good and bad. Especially the risk. But I do not think I comprehended how much my life would change. No matter how many times I heard it. I think the dr need to make sure they have the information accessible. Found out what his track record is..how many and why they died. For that reason, I visited the memorial page on this site. And I had extra test done to make sure there were no surprises woth my medical condition prior to surgery. The only thing I disagreed with i n the show was when Al interviewed Mike's dr. (the one who died.) He sent flowers but never contacted the family and the widow was disappointed. I would be too. I know he probably feard a lawsuite but if he could not personsally talk to her, what happened to pen and paper and actually writing?

I agree, I thought the doc should have atleast contacted the widow somehow. Flowers? C'mon, he should have been a little more caring than flowers, that just seems very cold to me.

I agree with Matha, but I understand where the Dr. was coming from (not that he was right!) We live in a very litigious society and the law sometimes overpowers our moral actions. I assure anyone that any further involvement, beyond sending his condolences & flowers to the widow, would imply guilt to a jury. Also, he may have a clause in his malpractice insurance policy, which keeps him from engaging in any kind of contact with patients or their families, which have a potential for a law suit. The Dr. expressed that he felt really bad for what happened to the patient, and that he would love to talk to the widow, but gave a bs excuse to why he didn't. He said "I feel bad, but what do you say?" C'mon, he's been in the medical field for at least 20 years, and he knows very well what to say! Maybe he was advised by a lawyer not to talk to the widow.... Who knows?! I also think it was unfair for Dateline to say that the Dr. was on vacation when the patient was in ICU. Drs., like us, are humans and entitled to vacations. It's not like he went on vacation the day after the WLS took place. I am sure that there were other Drs. assigned to the case. I am sure the patient wasn't just left in the ICU unit, being cared by nurses and CNAs... There are so many sides of the story; for me at least, it is hard to look at the big picture and figure out what the truth really was. I feel so sorry for the widow, but like she said: we know the risks, we hear them and they don't sink in, because picturing the results is so inebriating... That's how it was fot me, had I thought about the risks, I probably wouldn't have gone thrught with it. I am glad I had my surgery! -Flávia
