Is Dateline airing a new show tonight on WLS or a rerun?
As far as this being a positive show, I'm not sure. One of the people profiled, e-mailed Al Roker about the surgery. Unfortunately this man died. I'm not sure how long after his surgery this happened. The show is supposed to show how serious this surgery is and that it shouldn't be entered into without the knowledge of all the risks as well as the the benefits. So I would hope they present both sides equally.

One thing that I'd like to see addressed is the psychological factor. Although, I had no comorbs. Pre-op, being fat seriously affected who I was and the way I saw life, being fat always made me think little and achieve less, and expect less from others & myself. Now, even though I a have only lost 45 lbs so far, I am a new person and do have a new life because of WLS! I would like to see the psychological impacts of obesity, being stressed as a more serious comorbity. In foreign countries, where Doctors understand the way the "fat factor" hinders every aspect of in a person's life, BMI around 40 is basically all you need to be approved! The belief that foreign countries are way behind on medical technology and science is a big misconception. They just chose to look at it from a patient/doctor's perspective, instead of the insurance companies' perspectives....
Ok, it's late, it's Friday, I rambled enough, and probably made no sense/point here
