Mental energy?

I've been gone a while from the board, but I just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone and good luck to everyone having WLS, and good luck to everyone who is not having WLS, but is trying to diet and eat healthy. I think alot of people don't realize this board isn't just for WLS folks, it's for everyone. I, for one have decided to postpone my WLS indefinitely (I'm too much of a chicken s**t for surgery). For some reason, I have not had the mental energy for my work outs. I was going religously for months, at least 3-4 times a week and was really enjoying it, and all of a sudden.. BOOM... I stopped going. Don't know why, just did. Maybe it was the first hurricane and the subsequent ones after that. I worked so much mandatory overtime, I couldn't go for one thing, then when it was all over... I just didn't WANT to go. Anyway, I'm just rambling and making excuses.. I know, I know, just get off my duff and do it. Right? Ok, I think I will.... Sometimes it helps to write your thoughts down and share them with friends. Have a great Holiday and maybe I will join in Amy's Christmas party or maybe I will come to the next meet and greet.. I really need to do something but sit at my computer all night! MUAH... Kathy~

Kathy, Amy's PEP TALK 101: There is nothing wrong with venting or sharing your thoughts on here, many of us have similar experiences and sometimes it is nice just to validate your own feelings. I agree, the hurricanes zapped a lot of the energy for many of us. I have just started to feel normal again and not think about the hurricanes on a daily basis. I actually enjoy grocery shopping again instead of thinking of it as means for hurricane supplies or wonder how long it will last until I lose power. I cant believe how odd it felt the last time I did my food shopping and didn't pass over the meat and frozen food sections. With the hurricane(s) and the OT, it makes sense for you to not be overly anxious to exercise again now. However with the holidays coming very soon, I would issue you a challenge to try to get back on track in some capacity to avoid holiday weight gain. Set a mini holiday goal (hehe my Question of the Day today), make it realistic/acheivable/measurable and try to meet it. You worked too hard before, it would be a shame to stop now. Jump back on the wagon and go for it, you know you will feel so good about it once you start again. Amy

Kathy, it is your body so do what you think is right for you. It took me 5 years to make up my mind. Now I am so happy I went through with the surgery. When and if you are ready, you will know it. Good luck to you.

Exercise is definitly easier said than done. Talking about it I feel always helps. And I sure hope you DO come to my Christmas party. We'd love to have you and it will be loads of fun. Take care and email me if you ever want to "vent" again. [email protected]
