How Far is too Far

Hi everybody!! I need some opinions please!! I was thinking about the hour drive I make to go to my support group meetings. And I was wondering about other people. How far are y'all willing to drive?? What's the most you'd drive for a support group meeting?? I mean I don't mind the drive, but I am sure there are some people who just aren't up to making an hour drive. Karee

My surgeo is a little over an hour away. All my appointments (shrink, nutritionist, surgeon) are "down south" It is really not too bad of a drive and I try to schedule things so I can get a lot done in one day so I do not have to drvie down there more than once a week or so.

I drove 5 1/2 hours to my surgeon and PCP to have this surgery. I plan to drive to go to support or whatever it takes for this surgery. I use to be a cab driver so, I guess I may be a little different. Driving is something I don't mind. Carol

I drive from Orlando to Celebration for support group, which is a 45-60 minute drive - with $3.00 in tolls - one way.

I drive to Lake Mary...20 minutes away and I go to the mall for the meet and greet which is a 5 minute drive tops. I drive to Ocala for my dr appointments which is 1 1/2 hours that is enough for me...I wouldn't drive that far for a support meeting. Tracey

My husband and I drive from Leesburg to Ocala.. about 45 minutes. It's worth the drive.

Karee, I am with you, an hour is too far. If it was during the day, I would not mind it so much. I checked with your Mom's doctor about attending their meetings, no go. We could go together to TGH if you want too. Or perhaps the local hospital would start a support group for RNY patients. What do you think?

mines about 5 mins away from my home... mabye you can start up one of your own in a local place or even your home... tehre might even be one in yoru neighborhood... mabey you can post something in teh news paper for pre-ops and post-ops and teh like for in your area and yall can meet up every once in a hwile... just a sugestion good luck
