New To All Of This
Hi everyone. I signed up to this site a couple months ago, but this is my first post. I finally made my appointment with a doctor for Nov 12th. This is the consult visit. My GP is forwarding my records and his letter of approval for the surgery. I am both excited and scared. I need to lose about 130 pounds. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sore knees and no energy. I'd love to hear from people that have been in this same boat. I have heard horror stories about surgeries, but have started hearing more good things as well. Please, let me know your experiences with the surgery. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you and exchanging thoughts and ideas. Sheryl
Welcome to the florida board. Nice people here and ready to help. I had surgery on the 12th of October and have been feeling great ever since. I also "had" diabetes, high blood pressure, sore knees and legs, no energy. I say "had" cause since the surgery, I no longer need meds for any of that and I have normal sugar and blood pressure. You are going to love the change in your life. There are always horror stories. People always hear about the bad of any surgery or childbirth or wrecks. Just read and watch this board and you will see LOTS of people enjoying their life after surgery. Some do have some problems but ask them. Most will say they don't regret the new life they have.
Good luck on your journey.

Sheryl,
Welcome to the FL board. You'll find a bunch of welcoming, helpful folks here! I'm a pre-op, still awaiting insurance approval, but ready for my new life to begin!! I, too, have multiple co-morbidites + I've been on bed rest for the past 3 weeks b/c of my back. I'm hoping to avoid back surgery if I can get this weight off with wls. Good luck with your consult. Sounds like you're off to a good start on your journey.

Thank you everyone for all the encouragement in your responses. I'm actually starting to look forward to all of this now. Phoenix, I'm going to DR Jawad in Ocala. I don't suppose you'd be heading that way also? That would just be too much to hope for. Having a Comrade in Arms going through all of this at the exact same time would be wonderful! Well, that you again everyone. God Bless you all!
Hey Sheryl,
Unfortunately I am not going that way
, I am going to the Wish Center in Tampa to see Dr. D
! That would have been cool though, but hey, we can still compare notes, and I hear that Dr. Jawad is awesome, a lot of people on this board are patients of his from what I've seen as well. Good Luck! (I'll think of you while they are poking and prodding if you do the same!) LOL I have 5+ hours of testing to look forward to Nov. 12....but it's all for a good cause, huh?
