Is it really necessary to blend your soups? I know there are little pieces of food in them--but if we are allowed to take prescription drugs and we can digest them, why should we blend? Just curious. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I did not blend anything. I started out with clear liquids and then to creamed soups. I did strain them for the first month. That was to keep the meat out of my stomach. Once I got to chew food again (within 6 weeks) it did not strain anything. I chewed and chewed and chewed. It all depends on your doctor and the diet he purposes for you. As far a prescription drugs, I used the stomach tube for the first 2 weeks and crushed my pills. Then I broke them up small and swallowed them. The doctor told me if one got stuck not to worry, it would melt and go on down. Actually I have not had any problems with any of this.

When I ate creamed soups, I just avoided the large pieces of food. I think the meat is the part they want us to be careful with when our pouches are knew. Each doctor is different. If you watch this board enough you will see people doing all kinds of different meal schedules. Good luck, Carol

Amy, I have a strainer I never used. I bought some of the prepared cream soups (Soup at Hand and another one in a glass jar that I cant recall right now), some I blended and some I didnt need to. I crushed my pills in the beginning to avoid the large peices. You are welcome to have my little strainer, I really dont need it. Let me know and I'll bring it on Saturday. Amy
