Made another trip to the hospital

Well, if any of you had read my last posts concerning a weakened immune system and the horrible chills I got.......... well there was a reason. Basically things got worse, the fevers wouldn't go away. Finally, Dr. Gonzalez (who works with Dr. Murr) requested I go to the ER. I got to the ER, had my boyfriend call the office to let them know I was there (per Dr G's request) and that got us nowhere. 2 and a half hours later of waiting. Dr. G found me in the ER and scolded me for not calling him when I got there. I explained that we did call but was told to have registration call the Blue Surgery Team. So, there was a major communication failure in the office I suppose. Nevertheless, things worked out so I am not overly irritated. He and Dr. Nelson found an exam room and checked me out and all looked fine. Since the ER beds were all booked up, they felt it best to admit me. So I agreed and wanted a private room and got it. YAY! I had to stay over Friday night and Saturday night. Fever went up and down but never went over 102 which is good since my highest was over 104. I had a CT Scan done, EKG, Chest X-Ray and a few viles of blood tested. In the end........... EVERYTHING WAS PERFECTLY NORMAL!! Dr. Nelson wanted to keep me there to be safe but said I could go home Sunday if all was well. Chances are I just caught a virus of some sort. Overall my stay was better than the stay for my surgery. I had the private room both nights, could get up and move around easier, they let me sleep more and I could control the temperature in the room to suit where my fever was. TGH's ER staff was also incredibly nice. They were SWAMPED but still took the time to check on me, feed me ice chips and give me ice packs to help cool me off. They were complete angels. So, moral of the story here........ Please stay away from anyone who could be remotely sick, take your vitamins and eat, even if you don't have an appetite. You still have to have food. I slacked a bit on caring for myself and I think this is why this happened. Also my friend brought her girls over straight from Daycare and I swear they had some sort of germs on them because I didn't get sic****il the next morning. Take care everyone!

I can't stay away from people who might be sick, but I can wash my hands over and over and over! We should all be doing that to keep healthy. I'm glad you're on the road to recovery now!!! Jan

I feel the same way you do, the staff at Tampa General is the best! Dr. Nelson helped me out yesterday along with Jose! We picked the best place to have our surgery....they treat you first class!
