A Whole New Outlook
Hi everyone!
I have been doing some DEEP philosophical thinking since my surgery a little over a week ago and thought I'd share some things I'm learning and noticing.
-Even though I was taught to be weary of strangers, I've grown to love some of those I've met on this webboard.
-My son, even at two, has a total understanding of mommy's stomachache and can demonstrate the utmost care and compassion one minute, then get mad at me and in his terribly cute terrible-two fit, kick me one square in that stomachache {God love him, I know I do}
-Since I've been home and spending every day with my son, I've decided that perhaps welfare, food stamps and medicaid are valid options if I could spend every day staring into my son's big beautiful eyes, playing with Play-Doh and watching the Wiggle & Blue's Clues all day.
-G-tubes are not sexy appendages attached to normal females.
-People who were once VERY supportive can turn icky fast.
-People who once "hated" you are now suddenly terribly worried about you.
-G-tubes are for the better good, I keep trying to sell myself this one.
-This surgery was too major and FAR too expensive to mess this up.
-My energy level is already up so much that I can enjoy a day full of non-stop play with my son.....this, in itself, made my WLS 200% worth it, I don't regret it, not for a second. Not to mention the fact that I have not be "winded" or short of breath one time while playing with him.
So, as you can see, I'm learning a lot of things already. I think being off of work for this surgery has really given me a chance to slow down and readjust. I couldn't be happier.! I only hope that the rest of you can take that step back and look at how your surgery is effecting your lives already....I mean really step back and look at the little things you never thought of....ISN"T IT GREAT????

I am glad you are getting this time to look at your life. I am a lot older than you and have still found out that it is better to slow down and enjoy this time.and the new life.
The greatest thing for you is that your son will now have a mother to watch and love while he grows up.
You have taken your life back and given him a very meaningful gift that he isn't even aware of yet.
Take your time and get it all together. You are right...........This is really great. AND this is coming from a woman that had the surgery the same day.

Danielle,
That is quite an introspective! Isnt it amazing how quickly you start to feel better? You and your son will have such a better, more productive life now that you are feeling better and it just keeps getting better every day. I know cause I continue to feel more energy and less tired each day. Enjoy your time off and keep up the great work!

Wow, you had time to think of all that???
Your G-tube is your friend, remember that! And they feel like snakes when they come out, trust me on this! HA!
I'm so glad that you're feeling so terrific. It's going to be hard to go back to work when the time comes, I'm sure. I loved living the life of leisure, although it was only 8 days away from work!!
Hopefully we will see you at Altamonte Springs on the 30th!!

It is great to see how your life has started to change. It has been just 2 months for me and every morning when I wake up it only gets better. You and your son are #1. The other people will prove in time if they will or will not be supportive but that should not be of any concern. Some people will not support all of the changes.
From here it only gets better. Keep the attitude that you have and life will continue to get better and better. The life that you are starting to create will just get better for you and your son. God bless - Brian
