Finally I heard this morning from United Healthcare and I am approved I have been pestering them on a daily basis I have to admit but I was sooo worried - yippee. I am sure I have the same feelings as everyone else nervous , excited and ready to celebrate . Just wanted everyone to know they got faxed the info on 10/7/04 and approved on 10/15/04. Cant wait to be on the loosing side just want to stay positive since I have to admit some of the posts are a bit scary. It will be worth whatever I have to go through!!! Elaine

OMG! I'm so happy for you! I've been checking the board daily since I got my approval hoping each day I'd see that you got yours too!

They really are pretty quick at UHC, its funny, I kept telling them that "I know another person who had her paperwork sent in a day after me and she already has her approval - so whats the holdup" I forgot what is your date Shayna? Elaine

Wednesday Dec. 8!!! I see you have a date on Dec. 1... isn't that funny? My approval came a few days before yours, but your surgery date is a few days before mine! But who cares ... WE GOT APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really am glad for you!!!!

Elaine, I too have UHC and was denied with a 39.9 BMI, and no comorb. Endded up having WLS overseas. Anyhow, do you mind telling me what (if any) your comorb. were/are? Flavia 223/183/115

Flavia, I have high blood pressure, migraines (they listed this although I didnt know it was related to obesity) thats pretty much it. Oh I do have a family history of diabetes as well. It seems like UHC Select POS is easier than the other type of UHC insurance from what I have been reading on the board. Elaine

Migraines can be a side-effect of high blood pressure itself, or the medication you take for high-blood pressure, especially if you take some sort of diuretic combo (like HTZ, lasix, Hyzaar, etc.) to control the BP. So in a way, migraines are a product of your obesity. I take a beta blocker for my BP and it also relieves the migraines.

Wow Elaine that is wonderful. I had heard UHC was not going to cover anymore weight loss surgury in Florida?? I guess it is only in Palm Beach County for the school board, they will not even consider anyone now. I was lucky to have had mine in June before they stopped in December. Good luck and have a great journey! Kathy

Congratulations! It took UHC awhile to approve me, but mostly due to the Dr's office not faxing things right away. But still, it all got done. I was on edge for so long as well! I am so happy this is going to happen for you!!
