How much is a good weekly average loss?

In your experience, after the first quick paced loss (I lost 40 pounds in 7 weeks) what do most people settle down to? 2- 4 pounds a week????? I have a stupid scale in the house and no matter how much I try to avoid the siren's call, I find myself on it every morning. And watching itmove so S*L*O*W*L*Y is frustrating me to no end. I thought of ditching it, but my husband bought it. In his backward thinking, he thought it would be a nice present for me when I came home from the hospital. He's cute but dense, and doesn't understand ANYTHING about the obsessive-compulsive personality! LOL! I think I'll keep him anyway! Thanks. Justina in Ft Myers

Good morning Justina. I don't know about the average weight loss per week cuz I wont have surgery until Tues. (Yes, I am excited) But.........I just wanted to say my husband did the same thing and bought a scale when he learned I was having the surgery. Cute, huh? Just seems the don't quite understand that point but like you...........I am going to keep mine too. Just too darn cute. Carol

At first I've seem to be losing about 1 lb. a day give or take, but I don't weigh myself every day. The scale lies and I like to see a bigger loss, so I just wait until my doctor's appointments. It's a nice present you got (the scale), but I still think I'd put it away for a while. It'll drive you crazy. Non-op people on a diet, such as Weigh****chers might lose 2-4 lbs. a week, so after a while, that might be what we lose. Remember we need to exercise and all that stuff as well. Jan

Justina, Click on this link to the weight loss planner and input your weight on the day of your surgery and your height. It will give you an idea of what you can expect. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/postopplanner.phtml Good luck, Erika L
