I am going to Orlando Florida next week. I need some help from anyone who knows that area. After 8 hours of sitting through a classroom setting, I want to be able to go out and have some fun! I will be by myself with a car. What do you suggest? I'm there Sunday through Saturday afternoon. Darrol P.S. I don't want to go to the mouse house! That's where the conference is being held.

I am not an expert. There is City Walk which has clubs and resturants and International Drive that has a lot of places. There is really a great steak place off of Lee Road which is more North Orlando off I-4. I cannot remember the name of it but I am sure someone can read this post and give you more information. I stayed a week year before last and did not want to "do" Disney either. My GF and I hit some of the dinner theaters. We also went to the China Theater which was very entertaining with acrobatics. I would suggest you get the brochures and browse them as they also have discounts in them. Your hotel/motel might have special discount offers too. You will not be far from the Kennedy Space center.

Darrol, the restaurant on Lee Road is called Houston's. There is another good one on International Dr. called Charley's. If you are looking for gentleman's entertainment, the club to go is called Rachel's, towards the international airport. If you like nightclubs and people watching, City walk at Universal Studios is really good, and so is Pleasure Island (in mouse property, though.) A little bit north of downtown Orlando, there is the Orlando Science Center, they usually have good "smart entertainmetn" there, I haven't been there in a long, long time, so you might want to search for their website and check out what they are offering nowadays. There is also the BobCar Center (theater, ballet, and such) There are some stand up comedy clubs in downtown Orlando, but I really can't remember the names right now. If I find them, I'll be sure to come back here and post. There's also Lake Eola downtown, some times they have art festivals there, but I am not sure where. For fancy shopping, Park Avenue in Winter Park and the Mall at Millenia (right off I-4 on conroy rd.) are the best. I'm sure there are websites to guide your entertainment in Orlando. Good luck!! Houston's is on 17/92 in Winter Park...Del Frisco's Steakhouse is the one on Lee Road across from Shell's. Whenever I have company in town, we go to Citywalk...that is a sure winner. Tracey
