Question of the Day
Hey Amy,
I currently am the Controller for Florida Institute of Health. I have been doing accounting for 19 years (wow that makes me old....lol) and I have been in the Medical field 8 of those years. My surgeon is a partner in my company so I had the VIP treatment. That was the best benefit from working for this company.
Have a great day!
Christine
I'm fortunate, I work from home for a mass communications company. A true 'telecommuter.'
I mainly crunch numbers for them using programs and a computer they provide, and create/maintain Excel spreadsheets of different proprietary data, generate reports, things like that. It's full time but I get to set my own hours. They really don't care when I work as long as I meet their deadlines. Because I work from home, I don't get all of the major holidays off, but I have what they call 'personal time off' that I accumulate. I can use it for sick days (which in three years I've never missed a day for being sick, I'm never to sick to work when I'm home anwyay) or use those days on the major holidays and it amounts to 5 weeks per year. I love that getting ready for work means stumbling out of bed to a computer and pulling my hair back. I also like taking breaks whenever I want and long lunches if I want.
My degree is in political science and I have an associates in journalism. Before I started my current position, I worked as a journalist/page designer for nine years, and an editorial assistant/researcher for ten years at different newspapers.

I am also a telecommuter,,, I work for united health care processing all you guys insurance claims.. I have been with this company for 2 years,, they set me up with a comphy chair, desk, office supplies, puter and the internet and phone services I need. I love working at home bascially except some days I feel like a hermit. I work in my undies on most days, dont have to worry about make up time for dr appointments or missing time for my kids if they are off school. I am mainly home due to my kids, it works out perfectly financially and mentally......... christy
My husband and I were ministers and co-administrators of an international non-profit for 17 yrs. We wanted to stay in the city until child #3 graduated high school so we had to resign to do so. (The organization transfers every 3-4 years.) I decided to pursue a life dream of nursing. I am now an LPN but also a student working on RN. I miss the ministry and hope to do some medical mission team work soon.

My Theme song? (Sung to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ball Game)
Mommy lives in a mini van, drives us all over town.
Buys us some peanuts and cracker jack,
"Is this our dinner?"
"No, it's just a snack."
And we go from soccer to baseball,
If we don't win it's a shame.
And it's one, two, three strikes you're out,
and then back in the van!
