When to call insurance company?

How long did any of you wait to contact the insurance company once your paperwork for approval was submitted? Did pestering the insurance company really help speed things along in your opinion? I have UHC (Point of Service plan) and was wondering when, or if, I should call them and ask about my approval. Thanks for all of your answers, and as always, thanks for the support you all so generously give.

I have UHC POS also but I am not going to call them for at least a week. Good luck and I would love to know how you make out since we have the same insurance.

My surgeon's office also said to wait a week before starting to call. I think it's important that they paperwork not get "lost"! Good luck on your approval. Jan
