Danielle - it could be nerves on both sides. You may be acting a little different as it gets closer, who wouldn't with surgery right around the corner. I do agree that others are just as scared and it is most likely from the point of concern. Once you get haome and the positive changes happen it will affect your life as well as that of your loved ones. it has been about 6 weeks for me and I can't believe the changes in my life. i used to take 200-300 units on Insulin each and every day. I now take about 20-30 unitis every 4th or 5th day. I was teasing my wife about the fact that I never knew that I had cheek bones before. Hang in there and try to keep the family happy to. They will be very important when you get home. Good luck - Brian

Danielle, It's so easy for others who dont know how hard we struggle to accuse us of being too "focused" or self-absorbed, but this is a life-altering surgery and is risky. Everything you are feeling and doing is to give you a better life for you and your son. There is so much unknown about this surgery to the average person and the negative WLS stories that they have heard or seen on TV always ring louder than the successful ones. Dont worry about their comments or accusations, just focus on your future. Hang in there, you will come through this with flying colors and your family will be very proud and support you. Amy
