I live in the Tampa Bay area and lurk both on the florida board and the main board but have not seen any posts about my problem. I have to say that I love the support that I find on the boards. I only wish I could find that same kind of support locally. I'm not in high school any more and I feel that the support group that I go to is nothing more than a popularity contest and if you are not in the "in crowd" then your opinion does not matter or hold water.I love my doctor and think the world of him, but his support group is clicky. I just want to speak my mind and see if I was alone or if anyone was finding this happening in their support group. Jenny 295/269/165

Jenny, I'm sorry that your experience with the support group has been like that. I dont have a regular support group meeting that I attend but I have been to a couple different ones and also our OH.com Meet and Greets. I think this board has offered me more support than any specific group could at this point in my WLS journey. At the last support meeting I attended, there were people at all different phases with some going through some challenges and others still being very militant about their regime. It is interesting to listen to their stories but I think everyone is different and our challenges are unique. Please ask us anything you like on here. We can offer you advice, support and an ear to lend. I know it isnt the same as seeing people face to face but I trully believe with this group there is a lot of love to share and I dont think we are cliquey at all. Take care, Amy

Jenny, I don't find that in my support group, but since I am one of the leaders, I guess if there was a clique, I would be in it. Try being a little more active in it, or at least a little more vocal. Good luck, steve

Steve- Thanks for your input. Maybe I should take a more active role. They are forming committies and it would be a good place to start to make friends. Jenny

Hi Jenny- I am also one of Dr. Murr's patients. I don't understand your post. From looking at your surgery date, how many post-op meetings have you come to? The last meeting, the plastic surgeon talked the whole time, so I don't know where you would form your opinion???? Please try and come to another meeting or two and see if you still feel the same way. Hope to see you soon! Lori 222/152/1?? laprny 1-6-04

Lori- This was my second post op meeting. the first one I attended was in August just a few days post op. Maybe it is wrong of me to form an opionion so soon. I don't want to imply everyone is in a click. It just was not as friendly as I would of thought this type of support group meeting should be. I will give it some thought. Jenny
