Hi to all, I'm on my two week diet before surgery and I wanted to know if we could drink wal-marts clear american sparkling flavored beverage. No caffeine, no calories and sodium free. but it carbinated i think. I like this much better than the other waters everyone has been talking about. Please help. Thanks Cathy

Cathy, what is your BMI? Who gave you a pre-op 2 week diet? (Doc, nutritionist, friend..??!!) Whoever told you what to eat and drink is the person you should consult. One think I learned is that you have to pick one person to trust and go with it. If you pick up bits and pieces of info through out the way, odds are, you will be doing things wrong! Good luck! Cathy, most docs oppose carbonated drinks after surgery. I didn't have a preop diet but about 2 mos prior to surgery I started drinking 1 protein supplement a day. LuvitsunnyV@goal

Hi Cathy, I'm not sure which surgery you are getting, but I had the DS 3 months ago and carbonated drinks are still hard for me. You might want to start getting used to protein shakes since they will be your "staple" post-op (unless you are allergic to them like me). Good luck. Bobby

Cathy, you don't have to worry about carbonation until after surgery, and some doctors don't even care then. Check with your surgeon about after surgery, but there should be no problem before surgery. Theresa, some surgeons require a pre-op diet to get you to lose a little weight before surgery, this is to help shrink your liver, and/or to show that you are serious about losing weight. Like I said, some do. Some require a liquid diet, some require just a low carb diet, and some don't require a diet at all. When in doubt, do what your surgeon requires. Good luck ladies, steve

Hi Kathy! Who is your surgeon? ANd how neat, I'm in Lehigh Acres too I'd have to agree with everyone else, all Dr.'s differ on their Pre-Op/Post-Op plans. My surgeon is NO NO carbonation Post-Op and encourages you to detox yourself before surgery. Hope that helps! Danielle
