Okay, I am less than two weeks away from my surgery date. I have forgotten EVERYTHING I read about what I am suppose to do. I have the impulse to cry , laugh, scream, run. My throat feels dry just thinking of the tubes. I am having night sweats and hot flashes. Do you think I am nervous. WELL, TODAY I AM. I have been reading different boards. you know.......memorial, regrets, complications. I know I still want to do this but the emotions have taken over. I am trying to get my things in order here to take to hospital and then we are going to be staying over closer to Jax for a week since that is so far to come home. This means I have to buy things for over there. I will be in Memorial hospital if anyone wants to check on me. I will take any words of wisdom or encouragement. Carol

Carol, Everything you are feeling is normal! Just remember you have come a long way and your almost on the other side! Take these last 2wks to finish getting everything in order for the trip and surgery! Try to relax as much as possible and remember everything is in Gods Hands! I hope I can make it to visit you in the hosp! I live 5mins from there! Best of Luck! MICHELLE

Thanks Michelle, I know it must be normal , I have read a lot of the same kind of thing from others but now that it is in on me. I am just afraid I will forget something important. My husband and daughters have been great but they really don't understand. They don't have the weight problem like me. ( Thank God) I just want to do this right. Thanks for answering. Carol

Be strong and keep in mind the reasons that made you contemplate WLS. What you are feeling is normal and common to all of us who have had WLS. My prayers are with you. God bless. LuvitsunnyV@goal

You and me both honey! We have the same surgery date (I am in Tampa though). I am going through the same exact emotions and basically I am told it's just normal. We just gotta stay strong and remember that we are doing the best thing for our body. Everything is going to be great!

Carol & Marci, I'm a Pre-Op but from what I've read, you guys are right on schedule with your emotions & concerns. Just remember WHY you're doing this and hang in there! As someone who has had surgery 7 times (4 in-patient & 3 out-patient) I know you're running around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to get ready but I'd like to suggest a few things to help you relax. 1. This week, go and buy a pretty nightgown or PJ's to wear after you come home. Call TODAY & schedule some help & pampering for yourself: 2. A day or 2 before your surgery, get a housekeeping service to come in and DEEP clean your home for you. Your family can keep up with the day-to-day cleaning but it is wonderful to come home to a sparkling clean house AND you won't have to worry about all the things you see but that your family doesn't seem to notice need cleaning while you're recuperating. 3. Get a hair cut a few days before your surgery 4. Get a manicure & pedicure the day before surgery (but tell them to use clear polish only, otherwise the hospital may require you to remove it before surgery.) 5. Have a massage the day before surgery. It really helps you relax & makes moving around & walking after surgery easier (in my humble opinion) It sounds silly, but these little things really do make you feel better after surgery and help keep your spirits up when you're feeling blue. I know these things cost $$$ but remember, you'll be saving $$ on your grocery bill and besides, you're worth it!! Good luck to you both & I'll keep you in my prayers! Vickie J. Tallahassee Lassie

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like some good ideas to relax and pamper myself before I go in. Carol

Oh Carol, now you are making me nervous and I don't have a date yet! LOL I think its all pretty normal...heck I freaked just having to go out of town for pre op evaluations but I finally got that done. It will be okay and I'm sure once you hit Jacksonville you will be so busy you won't think about it. We will all be saying prayers for you as well.

Well, Ginny, you might as well be nervous with the rest of us. Seriously, I think everyone gets to this stage but right now it has me by the tail. I appreciate all the input though. Carol
