BP back up

I went to my monthly PCP visit and after thinking my blood pressure medication was doing so good, it's back up to 150/110. I am so upset. I told him I was getting really tired of this! I had also gained almost 9 pounds since my last monthly visit and I'm bloated like a balloon so I know it's water weight. I'm sure that's why BP is sky rocketing again. I have not changed my diet at all -- I haven't eaten anything unusual. My PCP put me on lasix for 10 days and he will evaluate me again. My paperwork is still submitted to insurance but my PCP said I would not pass pre-op testing with a BP of 150/110. ::: sigh :::

Shayna, I know you must be so frustrated. The Lasix should work and your BP will stabilize soon, keep eating right and doing what your PCP suggests. Think positive and don't worry about your pre-op testing just yet. One step at a time... Amy

I definently agree with Amy the lasix should help. I know how frustrating it can be to have things pushed back, but just remember you want to be in as good of health as possible for this surgery. I had several setbacks also, but was finally able to have the surgery on 9/01/04. It was worth the wait. So, just hang in there! Brook

Hi Shayna, My only other problem besides obesity is my BP. Before surgery they put me on a beta blocker which helped stabilize my BP. Before that I was taking a water pill but they don't want you to take that after surgery because there is a high risk of dehydration. That seemed to work for me. Unfortunately, I am still on my meds for BP, even after loosing 70 pounds since the surgery. My PCP says that it might not be weight related, just hereditary. Hope this helps. Where in South Florida do you live? A bunch of us get together about every other month at a mall. E-mail me if you are interested. Hugs, Christine -70

Hi, I am pretty new to this board- usually just go to the main message board but sometimes it goes too fast for me. I went to my primary yesterday and my BP was 178/117- needless to say he doubled my BP meds. Hope it helps! I am still waiting for insurance approval but I don't want this to keep me from having surgery once I am approved. Terri
