Does anyone know who many little packets of Splenda it takes to substitute for a 1/4 cup of sugar? Have any of you ever tried using applesause instead of oil when making cakes or cookies? I fell like experimenting!! LOL Kallen

If you get the big bag of splenda it says 1 cup of splenda for 1 cup of sugar... After my wife had surgery we made kool aid 1 cup splenda and it was to sweet... Also my wife said that today she saw a baking splenda that had sugar in it. So you need to be careful. she said it had 2gr sugar per serving.

I have used applesauce and I used the same measurement. 1 cup for 1 cup and it worked out great. I use splenda all the time. You can get it loose now too and use equal amounts of splenda to regular sugar. I have now discovered I do not like foods as sweet as I did before surgery no matter what type of sugar is used.

Kallen, I would buy the scoopable Splenda to try rather than using the little packets. Those packets are so concentrated, plus I dont think you can bake with them (I could be wrong). I have used applesauce and bananas to bake with, both turned out very moist and good. Another good recipe is to add a can of regular pumpkin (not the pumpkin pie mix, but reg pumpkin) to a spice cake mix and stir, stir, stir then bake. Very easy and good, just add a little FF cool whip and you have a great dessert. I cant do anything like that right now, but maybe down the road if I want something sweet but not too decadent, although it would still have lots of carbs. Have fun
