Medicaid process started

I'm reposting this, it was in the insurance section but perhaps the FL section will get a better response:

I went through the process for Medicaid. I am not sure what to expect now, other than "I will be contacted within the next 15-45 days". But on My ACCESS page, it doesn't show anything.

I'm also scared on whether or not they will cover me. I am jobless but a full-time student *****ceives Stipend checks. I am worried they may decline me because of this, but the real issue is that these checks won't help me with my problems medically. Will they interview me before accepting or declining? They don't even know why I am applying for Medicaid, which is not insurance at least to my knowledge it's only to help through a certain situation, right?

I'm so confused and lost and scared. I don't know where to go for any real simply put detailed information about this and this process.

I have a lot on my plate, with uncontrolled hypertension and high risk (if i don't have already) for diabetes as my mother was just diagnosed and everyone in her side of the family had it, and my grandfather had congenital heart failure and I now suffer from edema.

What are my real chances of getting help?

Hi there!
I realize your post was days ago but I just got to this forum.   I don't know much if anything about medicaid but I believe if you are approved and do get on it that you will then be on medicare.
I'm not positive though.  Medicare does cover some WLS.  The lapband and RNY.

I don't know where you live in Fl but Celebration Hosp in Kissimmee has an excellent bariatric program there.  They walk you thru each step.  They have seminars every Wed eve at 6.

I'm sorry you are so scared and alone.  Post on the main forum or one of the other more active
forums.  You don't need to be alone.  Take care of yourself.

Hi!

I have been on Medicaid for many years now... the initial application does take a while... If you applied online they will be sending you a letter that tells you what documentation you need to present at your local DCF office.  Your ACCESS page should at least show you the application and it should show the date it was submitted and whether it's pending.

As far as if you'll qualify... I'm not sure... it really all depends on how much you are receiving.

If you have any doubts the best thing to do is go to your local office with the confirmation number from your application and see what they tell you... But I would at least wait 30 days from the date you applied.

Hope this helps :)

P.S.  A tip for when you get accepted :)  Choose Medipass as your provider... they are much easier to work with when it comes to WLS.
