Hi all. I am in need of some help. Due to the hurricane hitting Pensacola where I am from, I have been sent to Orlando to work by my corporation. Here is my problem.....I am a month out from my RNY and I have already had a stricture and had one balloon dilation done a week ago. (was before I left to evacuate Pensacola.) But...I am supposed to have another one done in a week but I won't be in Pensacola to have it. I am already starting to have problems feeling like a stricture again but I am here in Orlando and I can't get my surgeon on the phone back in Pensacola due to the phones being down. I don't know what to do. I am trying to keep my job but I am not feeling well. I keep having a lot of nausea too and I wasnt having that before last week when all the hurricane mess started. (was thinking it could be due to stress and worry). Anyway, does anyone know of a bariatric surgeon in Orlando that I could possibly call? If I go to the ER here I am afraid they might admit me and I don't want to do that. I just need another endoscopy for the stricture. My doc back home does two balloon dilations. Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am really getting desparate. Thanks, Robin

My surgeon is in Ocala which is an hour and a half away from here (I live in Orlando). I wouldn't go to the ER's here especially a big one in Orlando as I went in on 9-11 at 3am screaming in pain for them to refuse to do a scope on me. They did do a ct scan, gave me pain meds, iv fluids, and told me I had kidney stones and possibly a stricture or a leak. They called my surgeon after 4 hours he wanted me transferred to Ocala and this finally happened at 11pm at night to find out the next day that it was a stricture and the kidney stones were a result of severe dehydration. A Gi dr opened the stricture up and he is located in Ocala also his name is Dr. Anderson he is who my surgeon referred. My surgeon also referred a Gi doc in Orlando before this incident back in August (I have had 2 strictures)but he didn't take my insurance his name is Dr. Shafrin 407-629-8121 he is suppose to be really good and get you fixed very quickly. Since he didn't take my ins my pcp referred me to a Dr in OCoee but he also has an office on Sand lake rd I believe his name is Dr. Dumois I saw his Nurse practioner initially and the next Tuesday they did the procedure at Health Central. Get the phone book call the GI drs office tell them about how sick you are so you can get in quicker. I hope this helped you out some. If I can be of further help please let me know. I don't know how your insurance works but you can always get your pcp office to fax the referral to the Gi DR. You really shouldn't wait to get this fixed. When I went to the ER I was in exruciating pain that only went away after several doses of morphine and dilaudid. There is also bariatric surgeons at Florida hospital celebration and they are more used to handling these cases than any of the hospitals in Orlando. The ER in Orlando was scared of my pouch and they refused to do the scope as they were afraid they could burst the pouch, and yes this was a trauma center which was why I went there, very diappointed. Please get this taken care of asap I'd hate for you to suffer the same type of pain I did. Take care, Michelle
