Hello! As some of y'all know I am pre-op, application stage. My stuff is being sent to insurance this week. Today I had my psych eval (required for doctor-not insurance). I am seeing a psychologist in winter park. Is it normal for them to want to do a battery of pre-test such as personality tests, etc? I am familiar with all of the test because I majored in psy*****ollege, but I was wondering what was normal compared to everyone else around here who has had pre-op psych visits. The only thing I can guess why they are doing them is because I do have mild depression. Please let me know what you think if you have had a similar experience. Thanks!!! hi ya kim I think that all are little bit different, I think that you did have to go through the gamit so to say because of a positive on depression. My psych eval done by a psychologist was just a discussion on why I thought I was obese and what I thought surgery would help me accomplish then the normal how is your marriage, past family relationships ect....after all this I was basically given a letter that stated I was a competent person able to make rational disisions with a good support system in case I had problems coping with my desision and the ramifications in the future. Kim, I had a history of depression. my psych test was mainly personal questions and then an hour casual talk with the psychologist. She suggested that I go back on Prozac (which I hadn't had reason to take for 6 years) a couple of months before surgery until a couple months after surgery. The premise is that when you get stressed and anxious stomach acid increases and this makes healing slower. Good luck. Luvit~SunnyV@goal

Kim, I had my evaluation last week also and it consisted of an hour interview, a test of T/F answers of about 580 questions and another test which was shorter. It was much more realative to weight answers were Always, Often, Sometimes, Rarely and Never. Questions were kind of funny like "I think my stomach is just the right size" My butt is too big. These were as I said kind of comical but I am waiting to see what my scores were. they are supposed to have them before the 30th when I have my appt with the surgeon. Elaine
