Hello all... Newbie here

I would first like to say you are all wonderful. I have been reading these posts for the last three months. Because of all your positive results I went ahead and decided to have WLS. I am scheduled for September 29. Only 1 1/2 weeks away. My doctor has put me on a liguid (Pureed) low carb diet for my preop. Is that normal?

KD, Congrats on your surgery date! And thanks for coming out of the shadows and posting. Many doctors do require a liquid diet prior to surgery to help shrink part of your liver which somehow helps make the surgery easier for the surgeon. I'm not a doctor and I dont play on on TV either ! Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress. Amy

Thanks Amy, Yes that is exactly what they said. They didn't want a fatty liver to obstruct the area of the surgery. I thought just reducing fat and alcohol intake would take care of that.

K D, welcome. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. One thing you should know is, every surgeon is a litle different. What your surgeon does, my surgeon may not, and someone elses surgeon never has done. That being said, some surgeons require, a liquid low carb diet, some just require a low carb diet, some don't require any pre-op diet. It just depends on the surgeon. I have found that those *****quire more from you, are doing it for your benefit, so don't fight it, be glad you have a doctor who cares so much. Good luck, steve

I wish the very best on Sep. 29th and can't wait to see you on the losers bench! As for the Liquid preop diet, its pretty normal from what I understand my surgeon also placed me on one!
